We’re thrilled to invite you to the first-ever online screening of Rave On for the Avon - a joyous, defiant documentary about a community fighting to protect the river they love. Hosted by Finisterre streamed from their Flagship St Agnes Store with Surfers Against Sewage, the online screening will be followed immediately by a live Q&A with Director Charlotte Sawyer, campaigner and ecologist Eva Perrin who features in the film, Kirsty Davies from Surfers Against Sewage and Mary Lindsey of the Women's Institute. FAQs are at the bottom of this page.

“Campaigning never looked so fun and friendly as it does in this joyous documentary about Bristol's clean water campaigners.” said the Guardian in their ★★★★ review of Rave On For The Avon

Local swimmers, citizen scientists and a mermaid join forces in a community’s battle to fight to protect the River Avon, the Bristol way. This 'Love Actually of the documentary genre’, offers a fresh perspective on the river pollution crisis that has been hitting headlines across the UK over the past few years. Rave On For The Avon offers a uniquely intimate, community-led response... and it's fun. Really, it's all about love. After a successful cinema run in 2025, this is the first and only online screening event this spring.

At the Q&A find out about how creative activism, citizen science and a whole lot of fun can help protect our rivers with Surfers Against Sewage's Protecting Wild Waters campaign in 2026.

"Sometimes an indie film like this comes along that just makes you want to cry, laugh, scream and jump headfirst into the open water like a mermaid!" Mel Rodrigues, CEO of Creative Access

“Rave On For The Avon is a fantastic, inspiring, and uplifting film that makes you glad to be alive, thankful for all that is wonderful in this world, and determined to do more to protect it.” Jane Willis, an audience member during the film's cinema tour.
