Celebrating World Rivers Day With Our 81st Screening at Bristol Aquarium's Megascreen.

Updated: Oct 28

Charlotte Sawyer Director of Rave On For The Avon here. I can’t put into words how amazing it felt to end our UK film tour with a big party. I loved seeing my documentary film on an IMAX cinema launch an art exhibit 'River Joy' that I curated and then dance the night away with a giant river puppet who is leading the next phase of our creative river advocacy work through The Avonas. A big thank you to the lovely team at  House and Co for sponsoring the exhibit.

This story of love and connection to nature in this modern world has been seen by over 4,500 people from Cornwall to Colombia at over 80 screenings. Thank you to Mrs Meg Avon who co-hosted the event with me and to the Bristol Avon water who also came. We believe that bringing river water to events is an important part of our campaign work for the river. We believe we should have the right to swim and the river should have the right to flow.

We had some incredible support at our event. The wonderful team at YETI have completely knocked it out of the park. Not only did they gift us one of their huge TUNDRA 45 coolers to keep our drinks perfectly chilled (and to feature as a raffle prize), but they also created a limited-edition Rambler bottle with our logo on it.

This generous gift came out of the blue, simply because the YETI team heard about our story and wanted to champion us. We couldn’t be more grateful. Check out our shop to have one of your own!

The screening afterparty also launched River Joy, an exhibition I curated with the support from artists featured in the film. If you’re Bristol-based, you can catch the exhibition for free at Bristol Aquarium until 3rd November. A massive thank you to House and Co for sponsoring the exhibit. We couldn't have put this on with our you and your team's lovely cheerleading.

Pete, Owner of House + Co Property tells us

As a local independent business, we’re proud to once again support this brilliant community project. Bristol has always had a deep connection with its waterways, and the Avona puppet is a wonderful way to celebrate that, while raising awareness of how important it is to protect our rivers for future generations. We love seeing creativity bring people together around such an important cause, and we’re delighted to play a part in helping it flourish.

If you'd like to see a sneak peak of a new short film about Bristol's new river spirit puppet that makes up part of the exhibit you can enjoy that here!
