We’re Now In Cinemas! October Update

Hello River Lovers and Supporters,

We are so thankful to all our supporters for making our crowdfunder such a success! We’re thrilled to announce that Rave On For The Avon now has a cinema rating—meaning cinemas can programme it and more people across the UK can be inspired to join the movement for cleaner, thriving rivers.

If you would still like to donate, the crowdfunder remains open. Every contribution helps, and all donors will have the chance to be celebrated in our community credits, forever part of our story.

A Season Of Awards

This Autumn has seen Rave On For The Avon receiving two awards, Wildscreen Festival’s Sustainability Merit and a Special Mention Award at the UN’s Sustainability Festival.

The Big Syn International Film Festival is the world’s largest sustainability-focused film festival, reaching 50 million people in over 120 countries. This award celebrates the film’s impact in raising awareness for the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and inspiring change for our environment, society, and economy. Sonia (Distribution Producer), David (Co-Producer and Husband) and I attended their awards Gala at the Curzon Soho and celebrated storytelling for change along with so many incredible filmmakers.

The Guardian Gets It!

The film and our local campaign work in Bristol caught the attention of the Guardian Newspaper which ran a story about the film. Guardian reporter Jamie Grierson wonderfully captured what we’re about…love!

To top that off, we’ve been blown away by a recent review from Charlotte Kyle in Epigram Magazine, which beautifully captures the heart of the film.

"Even as a self-confessed wild swimming nerd, I was not expecting a documentary about a river to make me cry. And even less was I expecting it to make me cackle. But it would be all but impossible to have an unemotional reaction to this piece of art, which so delicately showcases the intricacies of the human-nature connection. This documentary has to be one of the best embodiments of Bristol Spirit that I have ever seen on screen."

If you’ve seen the film and would like to share your thoughts, we’d love to hear from you!

You're most welcome to add your review on our IMDB page. Reviews boost Rave On For The Avon’s visibility, helping us reach new audiences and expanding our impact.

Our Largest Audience

Rave on for the Avon has enjoyed its largest audience yet! A few thousand people at the powerful, angry and yet joyful @marchforwater rally at Parliament Square. We heard Frank’s poetic and beautiful expression of his connection to his special patch of the Bristol Avon.

It was an honour to share part of our Bristol Avon story with so many people who feel such a profound connection to their local river, lake or ocean.

The march that saw up to 15,000 people declare their commitment to clean water and demand the same of the Government.

So that’s all for now.

Our first cinema release screening is at the Picturehouse Cinema in Bath Sat 17th November and our Distribution Producer Sonia is working away to secure more cinemas to share our Rave On joyfulness. Contact us on connect@eightysita.com if you’d like to help us to get the film into your local cinema.
